Sorry in advance for this long post. We upgraded to XP PRO service pack 2 and
my Kodak 8500 printer won't install. It goes all the way through the install
point loading the files and then returns the message that the install
encountered problems. We made sure the print spooler was running and set to
automatic. We have verified the software, the printer and cables. We have
tried it on another XP SP2 machine and it installs. So there is clearly
something amiss with this installation configuration but I have no clue
where to find out what might be causing the problem. Does anyone have a
suggestion as to what the cause might be, or how to get more information from
the install wizard so a solution might be fashioned.
