Can't Install FrontPage 2003 in Windows 7

I'm trying to install my FrontPage 2003 in Windows 7. This is not an upgrade
disk, but the original program I purchased 6 years ago. When I try to
install, I get a message that it needs a copy of Microsoft Office 97, 2000 or
XP to upgrade. I have none of those. I tried setting the properties of the
Setup.EXE file to compatibility mode with Windows XP Service Pack 2 and 3,
but I keep getting the same message. The installer won't go beyond that
error message.

I keep reading that this is supposed to install fine. Any ideas on what I'm
doing wrong?

You have a an upgrade CD of FP 2003. You might have purchased it six
years ago and I am not in a position to dispute this but it is quite
plausible that you purchased an upgrade CD at that time. The only way
out from this is to get hold of Microsoft Works version 7 or earlier and
you can install your FP 2003 in Win 7. Microsoft Works was a qualifying
product at that time along with Office 97, 2000 or Office XP. You can
buy Works 6 <or even 7> on ebay for a few dollars.

The alternative is buy EW3 and I believe EW3 upgrade will install if you
have "Any Microsoft Office product (for Expression Web 3) " the full
details of upgrade offer is here:

<http://www.microsoft.com/expression/products/Upgrade.aspx>

However, most people generally buy full versions of products because of
problems of installing and re-installing in the future.
