Can't install ANYTHING on USB or anywhere else.

Was working, now not.

"The system cannot find the file specified"

error on ANY device plugged into USB.

Also can't install any new modems.

Something's wrong in the .INF stuff, but have no
idea where...

Can't back track it to any specific device, all was
working fine until I tried to install a new modem..

Also can't UNINSTALL anything.

I seem to remember other folks with this issue, but can't
seem to find it in the archives.

Go into the device manager and delete the USB root hub and associated
devices. Reboot, and the system should autodetect what it thinks is new
hardware. Provide the win2k and mb driver disks as requested.

Thanks for the response.

But, this problem affects ALL my
hardware, not just the USB stuff.

I figured out what's up last night by using a different
search string on Google.

The solution is here:

and a few other places....

Nobody seems to know why this works, but it does.

I was missing the \RunOnce key-
