Can't import .pst file to new computer

I was using Outlook 2000 on my old computer running
Windows XP Home Edition. I backed up my existing .pst
file to a CD. I bought a new computer, also running
Windows XP Home Edition. I reinstalled Microsoft Office
2000, and attempted to import my .pst file from the CD.
The error I get is:

Properties for this information service must be defined
prior to use.

When I hit ok, I get another error message that reads:

File access is denied. You do not have the permission
required to access the file F:\...\backup.pst.

In the meantime, my ISP is sending my office email to the
new Outlook .pst and I am really going to have a problem
if I can't integrate this info today.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Heidi H

You need to copy the PST file off the CD and onto your hard drive. Right
click, select properties, and clear the read only flag.

I just stumbled on this. It was exactly what I was looking for. Seem
like you try to do everything you can to make replacing a hard driv
easier and it is the little things that drive you nuts.

Thanks for pointing out clearing the read only flag. Now I just nee
to figure out how to put all the hair back that I pulled out.
