hi, i captured from my camcorder to dv avi so i could
edit it and put it back on my camcorder, but it wont
import the avi. i should have the codecs. it imports
other captured file types, premiere wont import it
either. what gives?
i have a capture card that is not supported by WinXP, but
everything seems to work other than this, so i dont know
if thats the problem

Try the DVIO utility - there's a link to it on the Camcorders... General
page at

www.papajohn.org

It'll give you a simple interface to the camcorder to help determine if it's
a capture card/cable or camcorder issue, versus software related.

ok i installed my capture card on another computer and
imported my movie, and it worked fine. so the problem is
with the software in my computer, maybe codecs or
something.
does anyone know what i should do if movie maker says my
avi is not valid or corrupted for importing?
