Can't Hibernate!

I'd appreciate any advice: When attempting to go into
hibernate or standby, this message:

"The devide driver for the 'Communications Port (COM1)'
device is preventing the machine from entering standby.
Please close all applications and try again. If the
problem persists, you may need to update this driver."

No driver update needed, devices "functioning properly"
when diagnosed with Windows XP, just no luck!
