You deleted SoundMax and still had sound? That makes me think the game possibly
installed a codec and corrupted you audio device. SoundMax is audio software that is
provided with Intel motherboards and others with integrated chips.
What shows in Device Manager for your Sound device?
Are there any conflicts present with the audio device if it's still listed?
Are there any "Other" or "Unknown" listed in DM?
Are you using an add-on sound card or is it integrated audio? If integrated, what
is the:
Manufacturer/make/of your machine?
