can't get XP home and XP pro to talk DCC

I'm trying to use DCC between an XP home machine and an XP Pro machine. it
fails, telling me that some protocols may need adjusting. i'm only using
tcp/ip. when i try installing nwlink/netbios compatible transport protocol,
it works fine. what's the problem? thanks for the help.
