Can't get video "re-started"

My dad and I recently upgraded to Windows Messenger 5.0
(we both run Win XP Home) and, for the first time in a
long time, connected and enjoyed a half hour chat last
week. When we tried tonight - worked great! Then, he
accidentally hit the Stop Video button and we lost the
connection. We've tried for 3 hours to get it back and
this is what I've learned: I can go to Options>> under
the video and I have no check next to "Stop sending
video" but his is grayed out and can't start again.
We've tried everything imaginable, from him sending me an
invitation, me sending him one, rebooting, reconnecting,
etc., etc. and it's the same scenario. He can see and
hear me, I can hear him, but not see him. I see a little
DV camcorder with a red, funky X on it. It's like he
can't re-start sending video. His webcam is fine, he's
tried other applications and it works well.

Please help!!!
