I have just installed XP SP1 and then SP2 on a new hard drive. I cannot get
the USB ports to work. Everything works ok when booted up with my old HD.

I get the yellow ? mark beside USB under other devices. I also have ?'s for
Multi Media audio controller and PCI simple communications controller but I
assume that's for the modem and audio stuff I haven't installed.

At the bottom of the hardware devices screen I show USB items but when I try
to do a driver losd for the USB when clicking on the USB beside the Yellow ?
mark it can't find the drivers.

How do I get my USB ports working. They are for my printer, scanner and
flash drives I use.

I have tried reformatting the HD and also reinstalling XP. Everything else
works.

Have you installed the chipset drivers for the motherboard?

Actually I tried to install them from the Asus CD but it says that the
Windows XP SP1 and SP2 CD's contain them but I can't get a install from
either the ASUS or MS CD's

I did all the above including reformating HD etc. After talking to the folks
that did the build on it I found out that they use a different CD from what I
had for drivers. So I was ready to download the motherboard program from
Asus and do it again. When I booted it up to do it the USB ports were
working. I guess it just took a lot of rebooting to get them to settle
down????
