My speakers work fine on other computers, but when i hook
them up onto my new xp machine the loudest that the
vollume allows it to go is still quiet.
I had someone tell me that it has happened to them
before, but they cant remember how they fixed it. I went
through the control panel and turned up everything in
the "sounds and audio devices" configurations.

You may need an amplifier, some sound cards might have more
power, your new XP machine may be using on-board sound which
is low power. You can get amplified speakers or add in-line
amp.
