I've turned off the auto switch on of Messenger, I've disallowed running in
the background, but still, every time I select outlook express to read my
emails, up pops that ghastly green figure and I'm exposed as online to all
the messenger group. Do I have to uninstall the program or is there
something I'm missing?

Oops, I found the auto messenger option in Outlook Express. Sorry, folks,
