Can't get rid of Netzero and Norton

Hi you all.

I use Windows XP.

I tried Internet Service provider Netzero, which comes combined with
Norton Security. (2 different CDs install the service). I am greatly
disappointed in Netzero and cancelled it. Norton isn't that bad but I
have no use for it currently.

I deleted the Netzero program in my control panel but I did not get rid
of Netzero. Their tool bar is still in my IE and when I try to connect
to my new ISP (AOL) different Netzero bars show up and want me to
connect to them, despite I removed the program.

Furthermore, I can't delete Norton at all in my control panel. Nothing
happens when I click on remove the program.

What is wrong? How can I get rid of these unwanted house guests?

Ette

sometimes a silicon cross
at the on the desktop can keep
em away.

have you tried a system restore
to the date/time right before
you installed those blood sucking
adwares?

The only way I was able to get rid of these type of programs was regedit
in safemode.

Well it's like I said I tried the other "easier" ways and none of them
worked.

Thanks you all for your advice. However, if I do this:

does that mean that I lose my current ISP and anything else I did
during the last 70 days?

And something else. What about the reg cleaner? Could removal of all
kind of crap in the reg cleaner get rid of Netzero and Norton? The
problem for me is that not all of their files have Netzero and Norton
in them. I have constantly a question by looking at the files of my
computer, which goes like this: "What the heck is this for a file?

well, since i cannot scan
your computer with my crystal ball,

what you can do is to make a system restore point
with todays date and this time.

then find a system restore point prior to your
installation of those programs and initiate
it. This restore point does what it means, eg
restore the operating system to be exactly like
it was right before you installed the net and nort.

if you are unsatisfied with the restoration, then
initiate the the newly created restore point to bring
it back to this current state.

this is a better method since you could not unistall
netzero and the netzero dialer that replaced your
windows dialer and the aol's dialer. remember that
aol and netzero and others are in competition so they
will overwrite each others programs. so be prepared
to reinstall your aol isp....

if these don't work, then we can look at modifying the
registry as a last resort....

Norton is the barnacle of software.

You'll have to go to Norton's website and score up their barnacle-scraper
known as Norton Removal Tool.
