Hi

I have turned off system restore. I then renamed c:\windows\explorer.exe. I
took a dir explorer.exe and it showed no files I waited a few seconds and
took another dir explorer.exe and explorer.exe was back right there. Is this
normal? Is there any way to permanently delete or rename the existing
explorer.exe?

Thanks

Regards

It's a protected system file. Why do you want to get rid of it?

Put the fresh copy in the system32\dllcache folder, WFP will pick it up
from there when you delete it from the %windir% directory.

After deleting explorer.exe delete the C:\WINDOWS folder.

Just joking, ha ha ha. So you deleted explorer and now you have no desktop? Explorer IS
Windows! Restore explorer.exe from your Windows disc.
