this is an XP machine, think the question is compatible with both XP&2000.
I had a problem getting the print server properties to work.
One computer on the network is working just fine. Another I set the setting
and gave up trying to get it to work, then about a week later it just
started working. On another computer I am setting up on the network just
won't show the balloon.
checked X Show information notification for both Local & Network Boxes
checked
checked X Notify when remote documents are printed
checked X Notify computer, not user, when remote documents are printed
these boxes are check the same on the one that now works and the current on
the won't work.
check the registry entries and they have (1) for both Local and Remote
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\Settings\EnableBalloonNotificationsLocal ( &
Remote)
