when i go to disconect from the internet i click the
little box, but it refuses to let me close it, i have to
alt ctrl del, to bring up task amnager, to end task, who
then tells me that it is not responding what do you want
to do so i click end program and only then will it close!

It's caused by a parasites.

Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
