My OVR in the status line won't turn on when I either
double click on it or press the INSERT key. I checked the
the EDIT tab inside the Format Options dialog box and the
setting for this feature is checked. Has anyone else had
this problem?

Hi Ellen,

What version of Word are you using? What patches are installed?

If using Word 97 this was corrected in SR-1. You can download and
install SR-1 or manually assign the Overtype command to the insert key
in the Keyboard shortcut dialog box. Here is some info on how to
obtain all of the updates:

Office 97:
