I've put in my CD, and I've restarted my computer several times, but I never
get prompted to install the CD. The problem I have right now is that my
computer operates normally until after I log in(yes, I am the administrator).
It will even bring me up to my desktop, but the problem is there are no
programs running, no icons to click, not even the bar on the bottom. The
windows key on the keyboard doesn't do anything, but I can bring up the end
task manager. However, again, I can't use the task manager to run a new task
such as opening the XP CD-ROM. Can anyone help me? I would like to do a
complete re-install and remove everything from my computer.

Hi-

Just a suggestion...
When you finish booting and all you see is the blank screen with no icons or
taskbar...
Start Task Manager. (ctrl-alt-delete)
Select File / New Task (Run)
In the window that pops up type: explorer
Press OK.
This should start up the shell (explorer) (desktop icons, taskbar)

Its not a fix of the original problem, but it may get you up and running..
Good Luck
