I am having the same problem as someone else, I can't get frontpages to open
my web. I've been going back and forth with my server and they said that
from their end everything is fine. When I open frontpages I click "file"
then "open" then the web I want to open and it says at the very bottom
"loading c:/ etc......." and never opens the file. The weird thing is that
it is only doing it to the one website that I have published to the internet.
I can do many other things in frontpages, just not open that web. I hope
you can help! I've even uninstalled and reinstalled frontpages!!

Thanks,
Jennifer

Everyone else?

Open FP
File | OPEN WEB
then browse to your folder on your harddrive that contains your web (if you want to open your local copy).

If your web has Frontpage Extensions installed and you want to open the online host SERVER web:

Open FP
File | OPEN WEB
type in the box http://www.yourwebname.com (or whatever your host told you to publish to)
Then you'll be prompted for un/pw etc.

Are you clicking

File Menu then Open Web, then either double clicking the web name or typing in
http://www.domainname.com ?

If yes, have you tried using the site's IP address, as in http://000.000.000.00

Thanks Tom

I didn't say that everyone else was having this problem, I said someone
else ways, but he said something about a toggle pane button and I never heard
of that. I flick on File menu open then I double click on the page to open,
but whichever one I choose, it doesn't open. I tried typing in
http://mydomainname.com and it's asking for a user name/password combo and
it's not accepting mine, saying I do not have permission to make changes, but
I can see a "read only" version.
What do you think I should try next.

To open the live site, try using:

http://www.domainname.com
or
http://www.domainname.com/

notice the "www" and the "/"

Never trust your web host when they say they have no problem opening your site, because most likely
they are opening the site from within their network, not from outside like you are attempting.

If you also have FTP access, ask your host to double check that the FTP login is the same as the
FrontPage login, as they can be different, if you account was set up manually.

I tried opening the live site both ways and neither way works. I also just
contacted my host and my user names and passwords are the same for FTP and
FP. It's starting to drive me crazy as I've been trying to figure out this
problem since yesterday afternoon. What do you think I should try next? Do
you think it really is a problem with my host? Problem also is that I'm not
"computer smart" so I don't understand all the terms for this kind of stuff,
so when I tell them I have a problem I have a hard time explaining it.

Just another question.....I found another post by someone a few months ago
that said he had the exact same problem. Someone had responded to him to try
this:
"Close FrontPage and then browse to this folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\%UserProfile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web
Server Extensions\Cache
and delete the .web file associated with the web that won't open.

%UserProfile% = your machine logon name.

If it's hidden, copy and paste this as is into either Start > Run or the IE
address bar and click
go or OK:

%UserProfile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache

Do you think this is something I should try? If so, how do I "browse" for
that location?

Yes, this might be something to try.

You should be able to find the folder using My Computer or Windows Explorer.
