I am trying to turn my computer into a caller id and answering machine.
As near as I can tell my modem is a Rockwell aopen fm56-h. The card
was given to me with no promises it works.

I am using a program called Advanced Call Center. No luck dialing out
using the answering machine software or Hyperterm.

XP has picked Generic 56k data fax modem and reports that the device is
working properly. The modem has a mic and speaker jack but I don't
currently have anything plugged in them.

The modem is plugged into a working phone line but as near as I can
tell the software doesn't even take the modem off hook.

Any suggestions on how I can determine if the card is working?
