can't get dual video cards to work in XP

all of my computers in office have 2 or 3 moniters hooked
up to each machine. I am having to call a computer "guy"
to make the machine work each time i add a new one. i am
running xp, have updated to service pack sp1. in display
settings i choose to set up 2nd screen and it will not
accept it. there is a software fix somewhere but i can
not find it. thanks for any help.
