When I turn on my computer, I get a dark screen with the
following: Keyboard failure; plug and play configuation
error.

I turn it off and turn on again and I get the following:
Boot device menu: Normal, system set up, IDE drive
disgnostic. Normal is highlighted, but I can't chose it
because the arrow keys won't work.

I turn it off and on again and I get the message to
reinstall windows root system 32\ntoskrnl.exe.

I am anew user and the computer in question is a Dell
Dimension 4500S.

Thanks for any help.

Have you checked the connection to the keyboard, or checked the keyboard
itself?

Make sure that the mouse and keyboard connectors are plugged into the
correct ports. If they're PS2 type connectors (round) there will be symbols
and color coding on the back of the computer where they plug in. Make sure
they are fully seated.
