When I use Windows Movie Maker to capture my video, either live or form the
tape, everything goes fine. Except I cant get the audio or sound onto it. The
camera i use is a Sony Digital 8 DCR-TRV340.

How are you connecting to the computer?
USB or firewire?
Firewire is defibitely the best way to go.

Firewire is faster and more reliable than USB.
DV cameras have a firewire/IEEE/iLink port on them that you use to connect
to a firewire/IEEE/iLink port on the computer.
It allows for actual digital capture so you can capture your videos as high
quality DV-AVI files.
