Can't find Word as editor, locks up on reply, won't repair via CD

Outlook 2002 locks up on sending a reply, trys to auto archive every startup,
can't find Word as email editor. Repari via reinstall from CD doesn't work.
What now?

I browsed further into the list and found that this is a common problem. In
my case it turns out that the problem only surfaces when I try to reply to
one specific e-mail. There must be something about that e-mail that is
causing the problem.
