Excel XP cannot find MID, RIGHT or LEFT functions....
What reference library are they located in?

They are located in the VBA library, typically located in
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VBA\VBA6\VBE6.DLL
.. If this library is marked MISSING in the References dialog,
you should unregister then reregister Excel with Windows.

Close Excel, then go to the Windows Start menu, choose Run, and
enter
Excel.exe /unregserver
Then, run Excel again with
Excel.exe /regserver

Finally, start Excel normally.

Just to add some additional considerations:
And if any other library is marked as MISSING, you need to either unselect
it (if it isn't used) or use the browse button to find it on your machine.
This is often the cause of the error you are getting even though the cited
functions are not included in that missing library.
