Can't find files on hard drive

Hi,

I have a very strange problem where the "search" in Windows XP doesn't
always find the files I need. I have changed the viewing in Explorer so it
shows all hidden/system files.

I did, however disabled Indexing service. But from what I understand,
indexing should only speed up searches, correct? In this case, it goes very
quick and returns 0 found.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Then you're using it wrong, or you're mistyping the name that you're
searching for.

XP's Search function is pretty lame. Use the free Agent Ransack instead.
I install it on all my XP boxen.

But are you telling Search to "LOOK" in Hidden and System folders?
