I have a TravelScan Pro scanner. I downloaded the Vista drivers from the
website and it installed successfully. However when I plug in the scanner,
Vista goes through it's routine of locating the drivers. And then I get this
message: "Windows encountered a problem installing the drivers for you
device. The system cannot find the file specified."
I've tried un-installing and re- installing the software. I located the
drivers manually but Windows won't install them. I even tried the XP SP2
combatability mode.

Have you tried running the install in administrator context?

Walp... not sure how to proceed. I know others have been successful at
getting problematic, i.e., legacy, hardware working under Vista when even
the mfg's said it couldn't happen. I have not had to fiddle with any drivers
to get legacy hw working with Vista. Sorry. Maybe someone else will jump in
and recommend a track to follow to attempt to get your scanner working with
Vista.

Good luck,

Lang

That was very confusing to me. I don't have a WDM folder or a
"wdma_emu.inf". I think I have a corrupt driver database. Is there a way to
reinstall this with the Vista DVD?

I think that 2nd link is the answer to my problem. But I don't seem to have
those files in my directory. Is that person using XP? Because I have Vista.
Maybe you could explain it to me better.

No luck. Windows looked right over the drivers and stated it couldn't find
them. But out of nowhere a red shield with and X appeared in my task bar.
Automatic updating is turned off. I never turned it off. This is weird.
