I could not find a group for microsoft office word viewer 2003, if there is
one, someone please tell me where I can find it

This morning, when I tried to open an rtf file by double clicking, I got an
error message saying something like "no programs associated with this file"
even though the microsoft office word viewer 2003 insignia shows as the icon
for rtf files. I used right click/properties/opens with change to associate
rtf with microsoft office word viewer 2003. It then opened, but now
microsoft office word viewer 2003 won't let me edit rtf files. I tried going
to

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

and using the file downloaded there to uninstall and then reinstall
microsoft office word viewer 2003 and that had no effect. What's wrong? Why
will microsoft office word viewer 2003 no longer edit rtf files?
Additionally, it also no longer edits txt files

Moonbarker,

If you read the page from the link you gave, it states that the Viewer
cannot edit, only view.

"With Word Viewer 2003, you can view, print, and copy document contents
to another program. However, you cannot edit an open document, save a
document, or create a new document. This download is a replacement for
Word 97 Viewer and all previous Word Viewer versions."

Your Accessories/Wordpad can edit .rtf and .txt files... so when it asks
you to select a program that works, point it to Wordpad. Or buy
MSOffice, or download OpenOffice.org.
