Can't edit my pages with FrontPage

Hi,

I have a website created with FrontPage and Published to an ftp server by
copying and pasting the content instead of using the FrontPage built-in
publishing feature. Everything is working alright, but each time I try to
update the site by using the same means (copying and pasting to the server)
the forms in the site does not work.

So I tried my favorite method of editing websites, and that is using the
"Edit with FrontPage" button in the browser window, which prompts you for the
user name and password. But the problem is if I provide the user name and the
password (the same account I use to access my files on the ftp server) it is
never accepted.

What I want to know is that, is there any other method I can use to edit the
site without breaking the extensions there by making the forms useless?

Thank you in advance.

Pages with forms "Must" be "Published" to the server using the http:// address of the website.
FTP in any mode "breaks" forms.

The use of FrontPage forms requires http publishing to a host that has the
FP server extensions installed and configured.

The forms will not work using FTP and copy and paste.

Repair (ask your host to run Server Health) or reinstall the extensions.
Then never use FTP again on that site.

Not even when the webserver supports ftp? And what will happen if I use
FrontPage's built-in ftp publishing feature?

You will break / corrupt the extensions, unless you only ftp to a sub web.

Bottom line, if you have extensions installed "always" use the http:// mode to publish.

Ok, thank you very much for your support, I will be updating you on what
happens. I'm thinking of deleting the entire content of the already uploaded
site and use the built-in publishing feature, what do you think?

No need to delete what is already published.

Open the remote web ( the one on the server ) in FrontPage.
Launch FrontPage, click File > Open Site and in the Open site dialog enter http://www.yourwebsite.com and click OK
When it is opened, click Tools > Recalculate Hyperlinks.
When it's done close the remote site.
Open your local site and Recalculate Hyperlinks.

Then publish the entire site using the http:// address.

If I try to open the site live in FP, I'm prompted to provide user name and
password and when I do, it is never accepted. I do manage to get the site
alright by selecting "cancel" on the dialogue box that prompts me for the
account, but any changes I make to the page does not reflect on the site
itself. Should I still go ahead and try what you instructed me to do?
