Can't drag to address bar

Over last couple of days I've discovered that I can't drag-and-drop links directly into my address bar (that is, the white space itself), only into the borders of the toolbar (including the word "Address" on the left side of the bar). It's a minor problem but annoying nonetheless. Am I missing something simple?
