I choose update and get the list. I choose to download. It starts to download
then a window pops up that says updates failed to download. I tried turning
off the firewall but that did not make any difference.

I have XP home, SP2, a dial-up connection to internet which means the
downloads should take hours so I know nothing has come in.

I can't download any thing. There is no specific error message, it just says
it didn't download. I have never been able to get updates since I upgraded to
XP about 6 mos ago. Going directly to the microsoft site doesn't help.

It says I need some tool to download, but that won't work either, same thing.

I did get something initially, awhile back, but they were incomplete.

Thanks for replying.

I don't find a forum with that specific name. I can't figure out how to get
to the windows update forum. I am probable dense but this site is very
difficult to use and find what I want.

Thanks

Maybe something messed up your system. Try a repair install. If that
doesnt' help you may have to do a format and clean install. Take a
backup of course.
