Can't download/save files from internet any more - help!

Hello.
I used to be able to download files just fine, and now things don't work any
more.
My machine crashes regularly (I DO need a new one) so I think it may have
corrupted something.
I get the "File Download" dialog with the icon trx'g the doc, and it is
attempting to connect to the server...
Then I get a MS IE error dialog saying:
IE cannot download XXX.zip from yyy.net.
IE was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is
either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later.

Help! Any clues please! I think I got a message talking about referrers
once, also. Meaning????
I thought this was only a site or two, but I can't actually download from
anywhere. Web pages come down fine, generally.

I'm running MS XP PRo on a Celeron 466 with a Viper 770 card.
If you can help me with the crashing that would be great too, but first I
need to get downloads going again.
I also run GetRight, but neither it, nor a regular download work. Same type
of error everywhere.

Ciao,
and Thank-you in advance,
Dirk

Help with the IE is available from
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...er.ie6.browser.
Here it may help to reinstall the IE. See "How to Reinstall or Repair
Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP"

Thanks for the info.
I've gotten the admin to work, but my regular users still don't.
Hmmmmm.
Didn't reset settings for the user when I logged into it, so that probably
screwed it up.

Anyways,
Thank-you, again.
Dirk
