Have wanted to download a few items such as Powerpoint
and Excel Viewer, Ad-aware, and a well known firewall
replacement. All previously would have been no problem.
Now I am getting no download. System sits for a while,
with the microsoft flag 'waving' indicating activity,
then it stops and a clear screen appears, except for
small square in top left hand corner and the word 'Done'
in the bottom left of message bar. And nothing further
happens.

using XP with IE6, Zone Alarm Pro, McaFee Virusscan
online.

Have checked privacy settings in firewall and in
explorer, all seem quite usual. Can anyone suggest what
else to look for. Thanks

What i recommend clearing out your temp folder and
checking any programs that you may have running in the
background. check startup programs in msconfig. a lot of
times you are running a lot of programs, unknowingly, in
the background that will inhibit you to visit sites and
download from those sites.
