If I go here,
http://www.smartmoney.com/etf/maps/?nav=dropTab, with
Netscape 7.2, I see a bunch of colorful rectanges. If I go there using
IE 6.0.2800.1106IC, I get nothing but one large gray rectangle (the size
of all the smaller ones together). I'm using W2K, version 5.0, SP4.
The customer service page says to do the following:
Internet Explorer 5.x and 6.x for PC:
1. From the Tools menu bar, select Internet Options and then click
the Security tab.
2. Click the Internet icon to select a Web content zone.
3. Next, click Custom Level and in the Security Settings window,
scroll down to the Java category.
4. In Java permissions uncheck Disable Java and check either
High,Low or Medium Safety.
5. Next, scroll down to the Scripting category.
6. Select Enable in Active Scripting and in Scripting of Java Applets.
7. Click OK.
8. In the Internet Options window, click Apply and then OK.
I didn't have to do any of these things because the appropriate items
were already checked.
(One odd thing: There was no Java category, as mentioned in 3 above.
There was a Microsoft VM category, which had under it a Java permissions
subcategory with three options for safety, one for disabling, and one
for customizing.)
If I move the mouse pointer to any edge of the gray rectangle, I get a
momentary message that says:
load: class com.smartmoney.visual.webmap.html.MapApplet not found.
With Netscape, the message (at the bottom of the screen) is:
Applet com.smartmoney.visual.webmap.html.MapApplet started.
Thanks for your suggestions.
