Can't Delete Selected Cookies

Since January I have some cookies installed on my computer that I can't
delete. On Jan 17, 2011 a cookie was placed on my computer: (E-Mail Removed).
On Jan 16,2011 another cookie, (E-Mail Removed) was also placed on my
computer. I have tried to delete these cookies but when I right click on
them in IE8/Tools/InternetOptions/General/Browsing History Settings,
nothing happens. I don't want to delete all cookies listed there just these
two. Then today 4 more cookies were installed that I can't delete. I tried
to delete them in safe mode but that didn't work. I haven't used the delete
cookies option in IE8 because there are some cookies I don't want to get rid
of because it makes it easy to access sites with passwords that I visit
daily. So why is this now happening and how do I get rid of unwanted
cookies? Before January and for years prior this has never been an issue.

Running IE8.0.6001.18702, XP Home SP3. Thanks.

Use Unlocker 1.8.5
http://download.oldapps.com/Unlocker/unlocker1.8.5.exe

New versions past 1.8.5 has adware, so I would stay away from them.

I installed Unlocker so now what? I went back to IE8/tools/general/browsing
history settings and tried again to delete the cookies there but nothing has
changed and I can't delete. So how do I use Unlocker to delete these
cookies?

I should have clarified that the cookies I'm trying to delete are found in
the IE8 browser when the browser is opened up. I don't know where or if
these same cookies exist in Explorer. I searched for "cookies" on C drive
but nothing was found.

Unlocker: Right click on the item you want to delete. A context menu
will/should appear about mid-way down the menu. Click on Unlocker>select an
action from the drop-down menu on the left>click ok. The object should no be
gone.

Also, have you tried CCleaner, http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner ? It does an
excellent job of deleting unwanted cookies while keeping the cookies that
you tell it to keep. You set this up in CCleaner's options menu.

Curt.

Curt,

CCleaner did the job. Thanks for steering me to it. I had been using
CCleaner for years but didn't know about it's ability to selectively remove
cookies. All is well.
