Can't delete a print job

My XP PRO system recently started showing a print job
pending that I can't delete. The job is 2 bytes in size,
with no name and always tried to go to whatever is on COM1:

At the same time, each time I shut down or restart the
sytem, Task Manager indicates and process labelled
C:\debuglog.log is not responding and I have to manually
end it.

I tried deleting the printer on COM1: but got a message
that I can't do that while a print job is currently
spooled.

help?

Stop the print spooler first.

From the command prompt, type

net stop spooler

and hit enter.

Try deleting it now.

Remember to restart the spooler when you're done by typing net start spooler
and hitting enter.

I tried that. The spooler stopped. The 2-byte file was
still in the spooler and XP told me I couldn't access it
because the spooler was stopped. Catch 22, eh?

Found two more messages with same problem on another Tech
Support web site. No answers yet. Seems to be hinging on
the "debuglog.log" process that won't terminate when we
reboot. No one can find any reference to "debuglog.log" in
any searches of either Google or Microsoft.

Restart Windows. Navigate to the spool directory and delete any and all
files found in it. The default printer spool directory is usually
c:\windows\system32\spool\printers

Let us know.

Be sure to delete the print job out of the queue. The spooler will not let
you delete a queue if you are still attempting to print to the device (even
if there is no device present especially non Plug and Play devices).

I hope someone can help on this one. I have the same
problem. Ii can't delete a pring job. It' won't go away
without a complete restart and then it starts to print as
soon as the system reboots.
