I cannot clear one cookie/cache from my temporary internet folder, and it is
keeping me from going to my home page of www.excite.com. The folder is
listed as functions_ie and then the end of it reads
http://docs1.excite.com/functions_ie.js Any idea how to get rid of this
where I can get back to home page. CHecked every blog and web sit I could
think of, but no luck. Next step to call help desk.

Hi carlsbadjack :-)

You don't mention the version of WIndows you are using, but, they the
following and see if it helps:

CCleaner
http://www.ccleaner.com/
or
http://www.download.com/CCleaner/300...-10315544.html
This should clean the problem file.

If not, then you may have some form of hijacker on your system causing this
problem: Follow the instructions in the information below to fully clean
your system:

Be aware, there are many types of scumware that your antivirus and some
removal tools cannot detect or remove. Therefore, use the programs as
described in the instructions here. Some variants can continue to replicate
themselves each time your computer starts up if not properly removed.

Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:

also...

Download and install HiJackThis. This step is one of the most important.
Follow all instructions carefully. This prograrm should be run in Normal
mode.

Thanks for the input. I had run the CCleaner but it would not do it. Ran
Spybot and no problems noted. I do appreciate the info and suggestions
thought.

Hi Jack :-)

You may have a corrupted History folder. Delete it and let Windows create a
new one for you:

To delete the History folder and index.dat (XP)

Hope this helps.

Log on as Administrator and delete the desired <username> folder and reboot.
(or log on as another user that has Administrator privileges)
Example: "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\HISTORY"
