Can't delete older emails

The Messaging Interface Has Returned An Unknown Error. If the Problem
Persists, Please restart Outlook. I've checked the responses to similar
posts, but none quite fit.

This might be worse than it seems. I had saved my .pst file in a briefcase
folder on my flash drive. Often, I forget to resync the files before opening
one of them. So when they've both changed, I just overwrite the one that I
just opened, looked at something, and then closed right away. One such
occasion happened the other day, but there was a problem with the file on the
flash drive, and once I saved it over the one on the hard drive, they both
were corrupt. I had to run some kinda repair tool outside of Outlook to even
be able to get in. Now the file is only semi-corrupt -- I can delete the
emails that I received AFTER the repair, but not before.

Can anyone think of how I could fix this, or work around it or something
before my Inbox explodes?

Thanks,
Summarah

Can anyone help me? I am using Outlook 2002 SP3. What happened was that I had
opened both files, but in one I didn't change anything, so I overwrote that
one with the one that I did change. If it can't be fixed, there must be
something I can do to keep all of the emails that I want while getting rid of
the ones I no longer need. Please help!

For anyone else who ever encounters this issue, here's what I did. It was
cumbersome, but I was able to save my old emails.

I created a New Outlook Data file, and opened it in Outlook so that it was
positioned in the Folders list along with the old/corrupt file. I dragged the
emails into one of the mail folders in the new file. And even though an error
message told me that they could not be copied, it had copied them anyway. For
the other item types (appts, tasks, notes, etc.) I exported them and then
imported them into the new file. Hope this helps someone!

Since you had both PSTs open at one time, why would your export/import? Why
wouldn't you just copy from one PST to the other?

I tried that, but lost the labelling (color tagging) and other attributes,
which are important for me on my calendar. I believe I was able to do
drag-n-drop with one of the other folders, but can't remember cuz it was so
long ago. Thanks for the clarifying question.
