Can't delete network connection.

Hi,

I can't delete a troublesome 'network connection'. My broadband connection
is a cable modem attached to a network card. When I try to disconnect the
connection using 'disable' in the 'connection status' dialog, I now get an
error message (below) which says I can't disconnect, despite the fact that
I have been doing so (when not using my PC) over the last few years.
Someone suggested rebooting into 'safe mode' and deleting the troublesome
connection from 'Network and Dial-up Connections' and then creating a new
connection but when I do this no connections are listed in 'Network and
Dial-up Connections'. If I reboot, this time into 'safe mode with
networking' the Network connections are listed as normal but the OS will
still not allow me to delete the connection.

"Error Disconnecting -- It is not possible to disconnect at this time.
This connection may be using one or more protocols that do not support
Plug-and-Play, or it may have been initiated by another user or system
account."

Ideas and advise to resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Running Windows 2000 Server SP4.

Thanks,

MS
