can't del nor move file in win2k sp4, can dir it, but can't get
properties in gui

tried using recovery console to no avail

tried moving the file to 2nd HD, i'm getting
'file not found'

tried prepending \\.\ to the file same thing file not found

the file name is long with one '-' and a few '.' periods otherwise no
unusual characters.
i also ran chkdsk /f unmounted and no problems found

I'M OUT OF IDEAS

please give some if you have them

cheers

Maybe try deleting on the shortname at the command prompt. Do dir /x
and use the del command on the short name. That failing there are
several utilities available to deal with those stubborn files. Maybe
one of these might help:

Unlocker
http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/

DelinvFile - Delete Invalid Files and Folders
http://www.purgeie.com/delinv/

or try an old favorite rm.exe unix/posix/sfu utility.

Be careful with Rm.exe! You might end up erasing your whole drive! Or
half of it anyway... Maybe you could move your good files then try
deleting the folder.
