Hi too all:

Attempted to defrag my c:/ after having not done it for quite sometime.
I rt. click on the c:/ symbol & it goes to ck. for errors, defrag, &
something else that ascapes me right now. I choose to dfrag & get a message:
"Disk defragmentorcould not start." i Then tried to defrag from a command
line & the black screen pops up & disappears so fast you can't respond at
all. HELP...

Is there a pagefile on your C partition or do you have it elsewhere?

Try opening a Command Prompt window by typing cmd from Start > Run, and type
your defrag command from there. That should let you read the there-and-gone
message.
