Hi

I use Frontpage to create/update webs on remote servers with no
problems. I need to be able to start creating webs on my local machine
for building VS applications. I am running Frontpage 2003
(11.5516.6360) and IIS version 5.1 - with all service packs and patches
applied. My OS is Windows XP - service Pack 2.

When I try to create a web on localhost (eg, http://localhost/myapp) I
get the following message:

The Web Server at "http://localhost" does not appear to have Windows
Sharepoing Services installed.

I can hit http://localhost with Internet Explorer (version 6.0, service
pack 2), however.

As we use I proxy server, I have added localhost and 127.0.01 to the
proxy exception list - otherwise it doesn't work using IE.

Has anyone cured this problem?

Thanks

BobC

Did you set up the FP extensions on IIS?

Also to create a new subweb/site open http://localhost in FP, then create a folder, right click on
the folder and convert to web / site. Under Windows XP Pro IIS, you can only have a single root web
(localhost).

When I go to IIS, right click on Default Web site and click all tasks,
my options include check server extensions which I have done so I
presume the extensions are set up ok.

I can't actually open http://localhost from Frontpage, only IE. If I
try I get the message:

The folder 'http://localhost/' isn't accessible. The folder may be
located in an unavailable location, protected with a password, or the
filename contains a / or \.
