Can't Create a Restore Point

I'm getting this error when I try to create a restore point: "The restore
point could not be created because the shadow copy provider had an unexpected
error while trying to process the specified operation. Please try again." I
keep getting this message.

On rare occasions I've been able to set a restore point, most times I
cannot. I made a habit of setting a restore point in Windows XP before
installing software, and I hope to be able to continue with that practice on
Vista Ultimate. Unless there is a reason I no longer need to?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Was there an error code in the message?

Will you contact me via email? Remove "online" from my address. I haven't
seen this error before and would like for you to create a trace file for us.
This is easiest to do in email.

Thanks!
