I can't create a new calendar appointment in Outlook 2003 until I reboot the
computer. I can't do it from the file menu of by double clicking on the date
or by right clicking on the date and selecting the option to make a new
appointment.

A known issue that MVPs have made Microsoft aware of and are waiting for a
response.

After furious head scratching, Kerry asked:

Possible Solution Found:

Follow ONLY Part 2 of http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823475/en-us

This will reset toolbars, but will not reset any saved emails,
contacts, or calendar options (PST file).

Click Search to search for the files.

By default, these files are located in the following folders, where
drive is the drive where Windows is installed.
File Name Default Location
Outcmd.dat drive:\Documents and Settings\user\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook
Extend.dat drive:\Documents and Settings\user\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
Frmcache.dat drive:\Documents and Settings\user\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\FORMS
9. For each file that appears in the Search Results dialog box,
right-click the file, click Rename, type a new name for the file (for
example, type extend.old), and then press ENTER.
