I recently created a new user on my computer and a new Email account. I
cannot create a message because I get a dialog that says "A dialog is open.
Close it and try again." I cannot see or find a dialog to close. Is there a
special set up to run Outlook for two users on the same PC or is there a way
to find hidden dialogs to close them?

XP? Fast User Switching?

I am running XP Professional (5.1.2600 service pack 2 build 2600). I have
switched users, logged off as one user and then logged in as the new user.
What do you mean by fast user switching?

Did you close Outlook before switching users?

Fast User Switching doesn't involve logging off. Some configurations of
Windows don't have Fast User Switching enabled. When you click Start>Log
Off, do you have a "Switch User" option? If you press the Windows key and L
together, do you have a Welcome screen?

When I do the Windows key and L together, I do get a Welcome screen. While
tryiing different scenarios logging on/off, Outlook running/not running for
both users and then either user, I caught a glimpse of a dialog (the one
Outlook must be complaining about). I tried to capture the dialog several
times, but it would flash on/off very quickly. One thing I did notce between
the user where Outlook works and the that doesn't is that the one that
doesn't work displays "Configuring User Accounts" and then flashes the
dialog. I used a video camera to capture the dialog. It says "Please enter
full namd and initials below." There is a space for Name and Initials.
Based on this, I must not have the user account or the Email account not
configured correctly.

I have compared the two users and everything looks the same -- I must be
missing something somewhere along the way. I hope this is enough information
to figure out what I'm missing.

Thanks Brian and Gordon for trying to help me out. I found another post
about a hidden dialog in Outlook 2007. I opened Word and entered my full
name and initials. I can now create new messages in Outlook and not have to
kill the application from the task manager to close it down.
