I am repeating this post in the hope someone may be able to help me
that did not see my first post.

I tried the one suggestion to no avail.

Thanks

Jethro

Jethro,

Open a folder

TOOLS menu | FOLDER OPTIONS | FILE TYPES tab
Scroll down to URL & make sure Internet Explorer is the chosen program.
Maybe its set to something else.

Mine is set to:

Shell Doc Object and Control Library

Verb (advanced):

open = 'rundll32.exe shdocvw.dll,OpenURL %l'

Check yours & report back please,

Hello,

Try the URL association registry fix at this page

Thanks for your response.

I went to tools>folder options>file types and scrolled down to URL (s)
under 'file types'. There are 13 of them!

I chose arbitrarily 'URL:hypertext transfer protocol' and then clicked
'advanced'. The next window had 'open' in it so I clicked 'edit'.
I see: c:\internet\firefox\firefox.exe -url "%1"

I am using Firefox instead of IE. I have it installed at
c:\internet\firefox, so that path looks fine.

Which of the 13 URL file types should I be looking at?

Thanks

Jethro

Ayush suggested that a few days ago in my first post on this problem.
As I told him, I tried it, downloaded, installed, executed it - to no
avail. Nothing has changed or improved.

Thanks anyway

Hi Jethro

There has been a bug in the FF 2.0.0.x installer that causes a "cannot
open this link" message, followed by Firefox actually opening it :-) I'm
not sure if yours is the same problem, but you could try this:

With Firefox *not* running, go to the same file association you did
above, then Advanced | Open | Edit, and uncheck "Use DDE". When Firefox
is next started it will reinstate DDE and write the correct settings.
You might also do the same for "open" under the file associations URL:
Hyper Text Transfer Protocol with Privacy, HTM and HTML.

Let us know how it goes :-)
