Good day,

I have a couple of Windows XP Pro SP1 PC's that I can't connect to a Windows
2003 Terminal Server. I have a Windows 2000 Terminal Server right beside it
and I can connect to that just fine. There is no firewall in the way, I can
telnet on 3389 to the server, ping it, but just times-out when I try to use
rdp to it. I tried installing rdp v5.2 and still have no luck!

Please help, as I am stumped!

- Joe

Is there anything in the EventLog on the 2003 TS while this happens?
Do you have a 2003 TS Licensing Server installed and activated, and
did you install 2003 TS CALs on it? If so, did you install Per User
or Per Device TS CALs? And does the licensing mode of your TS match
the type of TS CALs you installed?

Nothing in the event log whatsoever. We have a TS and a DC. The DC is the
licensing server (and activated) and the licenses are per device, according
to Terminal Services Licensing- 62 total, with 8 available. The CALs are
2003. The Terminal Server mode is per device according to Terminal Services
Configuration. The encryption on the TS is "client compatible".

OK, that seems to rule out licensing as a cause.
Can you connect to the 2003 TS at all, with other clients?

Absolutely. I can connect with '98, w2k and other XP Pro boxes. I double
checked for SP2 - not on the box, checked for personal firewalls, none -
telnetted to TS on 3389 - seemed ob (just get a blank screen with curser).
Tried installing the v5.2 (mentioned earlier), with the same results?

Stumpted!
