Can't connect to Windows Update

For the last few days, when I try to connect to Windows Update by Clicking on
Start and then Help and Support, I have been unable to connect. The window
partially opens up but the screen mostly stays blank, except for the border
of the Update site.

Can anyone offer any suggestions to correct this?

Thanks.

Try going directly to the site http://www.windowsupdate.com see if you can
get in there.

Is Automatic Updates enabled? If not, can you enable it?

1. Auto Updates is enabled, and I do get those.

2. I can go directly to the update site, but that is slow. I still can't
get to the update site by going through Start, Help and Support.

There are many ways to get a MS update to run.

Malware may prevent you from using some or all of them so it does not
get so easily detected.

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these three free
malware detection programs:

Malwarebytes (MBAM): http://malwarebytes.org/
SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
AVG (AVG): http://free.avg.com/

Are you running WinXP SP2 or WinXP SP3 currently?

What do you mean by "slow"? If it takes a long time for
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com to load in IE, it will take equally as
long via Help & Support. Have you waited long enough?

As long as you can eventually access Windows Update via Start | Windows
Update (or Start | Microsoft Update) or via IE Tools | Windows Update, I
won't worry about it.
