While attempting to connect to a Win2000 terminal server from a XP/SP2
laptop, we receive a VB Script error..This is only occurring on 4 laptops
that were just added to our domain..Other 2000/XP machines can connect to the
terminal server fine...Is this a licensing issue? Any resolution?

What we've tried:
switching dns order, reinstalled xp/sp2, flushed dns, tried going directly
to ip instead of terminal server pc name, deleted ms licensing key from
registry on laptop(or should it of been on the server?), tried different
profiles, changed pc name and IP, checked host file, installed all msft
updates.

Any help with this would be great.

Can you give us the full eroor message and when it appears in the
connection process?
Is there anything in the EventLog on the server?

There error that pops up on the laptop screen is a blank white screen and a
small squre box with nothing written in it and an OK button.

The event viewer on the terminal server has this in it right after we got
the error on the laptop: "event id 1004: The terminal server cannot issue a
client license."

Strange. I assume that you have an activated TS Licensing Server,
and that the TS can locate the LS?
And that the user on the laptop has write permissions to the
registry key storing the license?
Is the firewall on the laptop configured to allow Remote Desktop
connections?

Hi Joe

I had a similar issue a few weeks ago.
Kept getting RDP error on the Terminal in my case and the same event
entry as you TS cannot issue a client licence.
I swapped terminals and when I turned the terminal on in my office it
worked.
Returned it to the workstation and had same problem.

So I swapped some network patch cables on the switch and it started
working again.
It has been working for 2 weeks now.
I put it to some memeory glitch in the switch, but can't be sure about
that.
