Hi

I had winXp laptop. But because i have a tool which can't run on this
OS but instead on win 95 and Win 2K PRO, i have uninstalled winXP and
installed win2K PRO. i want to preserve the latter's system since i
want to use the tool for a year or so.

I was able to connect my laptop at the university without major problem

.. However my laptop is not accepted anymore in the domain. When i have

installed win2K Pro the first time at home, i just specified that my
laptop is not a member of any domain. At that time, I was expecting to
use it only t home. Now my circumstances have changed. I have tried to
configure the domain and my computer name through control Panel-->
administrative tools. while specifying the domain, i have passed the
first step while prompting for my username and password. i even got a
message saying that an account on my name has been found on the domain
and got prompted again for a username and a password. At this step i
got an error dialog box saying the domain is not active or not valid!!!

i have tried to connect to \\domain and i was able to see the folders.
but i can't load my profile and as such i can't use the printers and
the different tools

I have tried another route and it says access denied

i have checked the dns suffix and it is correct...

do i have to re-install win2k pro stating this time that it is a part
of domain....

Any help please

PS i spoke with the engineers and they are not willing to help since
the univ does not support win2k pro anymore

Some virus scanners and/or firewalls can interfere with the
domain registration process. You should temporarily disable
it, then get your network administrator to assist you.
